We've had a few of the stories lately. I live in S. Idaho amongst the scrublands and it is very deceptive for most folk. It has a harsh beauty but it's very remote. I take lack of cell service in stride, I know technology fails. I know folks that are part of SAR and the "Mounted posse" that rescue folks like this. Tough no doubt, a survivor as well. But smart folks don't put themselves in this position without a means to survive. Proper planning prevents poor performance.
